My dog and I met a large coyote trotting down a back alley this morning, half a block from the river valley drive. My dog was eager to meet it, so I was relieved when it shyly detoured up into a driveway to avoid us. I’m surprised I don’t see them more often, this close to the valley.
Yes, especially because you walk fairly early. There have been sightings in our neighbourhood too, although not by me yet this season.
Just wondering… do you take bear spray with you in case you encounter one who thinks he’s tame and wants to “meet” your dog?
Of the two – bear spray or coyote – I’d rather take my chances with the coyote! ;P (Had an accidental encounter with bear spray that gave me a new respect for it! On a related note – replace bear spray cans if the safety gets removed.)
